Substance Addiction and Recovery Webinar

The first webinar of 2025, "Substance Addiction and Recovery - Practical Approaches from YEDAM," will be held on February 20, 2025, from 12:00 to 13:00 (GMT +3) for Country Green Crescent representatives During this session: o   The psychological and social effects of addiction, risk factors, early intervention methods, and recovery processes will be discussed. o   YEDAM's free counseling services in alcohol, substance, gambling, tobacco, and İnternet addiction will be introduced. o   Comprehensive solutions such as psycho-social support, family therapy, case analysis, and life skills training will be explained in detail. o   Findings from case studies and best practices from the field will be shared. Starting this year, IFGC aim to hold more interactive sessions to increase engagement. Country Green Crescent representatives are welcome to share their thoughts, questions, and best practices before the webinar.

IFGC hosts Country Green Crescents for the 8th International Capacity Building Program in Istanbul

The International Federation of Green Crescent is pleased to announce the 8th International Capacity Building Program, scheduled to take place from April 30 to May 2, 2025, at Sepetçiler Pavilion in Istanbul, Turkey. This annual event aims to enhance the scientific, academic, and advocacy capacities of Country Green Crescents, fostering their national, regional, and international engagement in addiction prevention and public health efforts. This year’s program will bring together representatives from many NGOs in prevention worldwide, providing a platform for knowledge exchange, best practice sharing, and skill development. The program will also include motivational talks, workshops and interactive sessions where Country Green Crescents will present case studies from their respective regions. Since its inception in 2016, the International Capacity Building Program has hosted a total of 1,464 participants from various countries. The initiative has grown steadily, with increasing participation each year, reflecting the commitment of the Green Crescent Movement to global collaboration and capacity building. The 8th International Capacity Building Program is set to be a key milestone in strengthening the global effort to raise awareness for healthier societies.

Struggling Against Addictions for Human Dignity

Its aim is to protect human health from addictive risks and to ensure respect for human dignity. In all its work, it promotes mutual understanding, friendship, cooperation and durable peace among all human. It strives to prevent and alleviate human suffering caused by addictions wherever it occurs, within its national and international capacity.

Non-Discrimination

It does not discriminate race, language, religion, belief, class or political opinion in its services. It focuses on alleviating human suffering caused by addictions with the most effective measures within its capacity, prioritizing the most urgent and essential needs.

Independence

It is an independent non-governmental organization. It is subject to international conventions and the laws of the Republic of Turkey in its humanitarian activities; within this framework, it has the autonomy to make international agreements related to its field of activity and to act in accordance with them.

The Character of a Charitable Organization

It is a voluntary charity organization that does not consider any personal or institutional interest in its services.

The Character of a Public Health Organization

It establishes preventive programs against all kinds of addictive factors and processes, especially alcohol, tobacco (smoking) and substance addictions and works for the effective utilization of public and non-governmental therapy and treatment services for addictions.

Scientificity

Adopts an evidence-based research, analysis and intervention approach in the prevention of addictions, prevention of addictions, therapy and treatment phases of addictions, behavior enhancement and / or behavior transformation in the struggle against addictions.

Globalization

It shares equal responsibilities and tasks with national associations of other countries in the field of struggle against addictions. It adopts the principle of creating a global organization that struggle against addictions worldwide, and as a part of this, to recognize the issues on a global scale, to work on a global scale, to function at global standards, and to be effective and reputable.

Societality

It considers organizing to raise public health awareness at all levels, from grassroots to representation, from individuals to public institutions, in every segment of society and in every sphere of life in every country where it operates, and conducting participatory activities at the societal level as a necessity to ensure sustainable achievements.
