COOPERATION

The members of the International Federation of Green Crescent (IFGC) are independent civil society organizations that adopt a holistic approach to issues related to addiction. IFGC members are also civil society movements that operate on a voluntary basis and embrace the principle of mutual assistance.

The Organizations are Gathering Together on a Common Platform!

Country Green Crescents that embrace the principles of the International Federation of Green Crescent (IFGC) aim to share their regional experiences in addiction prevention with the global community, address issues at a global level, and operate in line with international standards. In this context, IFGC seeks to establish broader global collaborations by bringing together organizations from all countries through international events and joint activities.

The IFGC leadership consists of knowledgeable and experienced professionals who specialize in a holistic approach for the healthier generations. Organizations participating in this common platform adopt the following fundamental principles and operate accordingly:

  • Assisting those in need anytime, anywhere, and under any circumstances, in line with the protection of human dignity and honor.
  • Committing to contributing to the development of societies’ capacity for prevention.
  • Collaborating with and developing joint initiatives with national and international public, private, and civil society organizations when necessary.

Principles of Collaboration

Civil society organizations that wish to become members of IFGC must adopt a holistic approach to the five areas of addiction: alcohol, tobacco, drugs, gambling, and technology, and this principle should be stated in their organizational bylaws.

No membership fee is charged to IFGC members; however, all members agree to comply with the principles and practices outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding signed with them.

Why Is Working Together on the Common Platform Important?

IFGC provides support to its member organizations in following and participating in international meetings, events, scientific studies, advocacy, and lobbying activities.

Through the training provided and complementary activities such as the International Capacity Building Program organized annually by IFGC, members are helped to enhance their capacities and competencies in prevention, advocacy, lobbying, and scientific work, and to integrate their efforts in addiction prevention into society.

IFGC members are informed about all products and programs of the Green Crescent Movement and are supported in adapting relevant products and programs to the needs of their respective countries.
